Bet you didn’t see that coming.
Musicians Les Claypool and Dean Ween (Mickey Melchiondo on his driver’s license) have joined forces with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to air a show about comedy, music and…fish?
According to the Huffington Post, the two musicians have been talking about a possible television appearance for some time now. Very little information is available for the as-of-yet unnamed project, but Melchiondo and Claypool intend to take celebrity guest stars out angling in what is part fishing show, part music nostalgia.
Marketed as a “fishing show that you do not have to be into fishing to enjoy,” the upcoming program will attempt to blend odd-ball comedy with the art of bass fishing.
Melchiondo is no stranger to angling shows, even if they are filmed with a portable camera and laced with tongue-in-cheek humor. He previously filmed and directed the 12-episode web series Brownie Troop Fishing Show in which he, Les Claypool, and some others take to the seas with a couple of rods and jubilantly high spirits. The web series followed the crew around the country as they angled for stripped bass, carp, and even shark on one occasion.
In his spare time Dean Ween offers guided fishing tours out of the east coast. Les Claypool had formerly moonlighted as a recurring guest on Fly Fishing the World, and fly fishes whenever he is able. The following video is a recording of one of their fishing trips:
