Hunter Education Course & Field Day Scheduled in Glasgow, Montana

The first round of hunter education classes in Glasgow is set for Feb. 25 through March 1.
The free classes will run each evening from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the East Side Elementary School library. Students must attend each of the classes and are required to read their instruction manual before coming to the first class.
A mandatory field day, which where practical skills are tested, will take place on March 2 at a site still to be determined.
Any person born after Jan. 1, 1985, must present a hunter education certificate in order to purchase a hunting license in Montana, and students must be at least 11 years old to be certified. Field day events are also open to students over 18 who have completed their hunter education coursework online.
The February class and field day are geared for those who need to complete a course so they’re eligible to apply for buck deer special permits and bull elk permits by the March 15 deadline. May 1 is the deadline to apply for moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and bison licenses. June 1 is the deadline to apply for Elk B, Deer B and antelope licenses.
Class sizes for courses are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. Class registration, which requires the signature of a parent or guardian for students under the age of 18, is now taking place at FWP’s Region 6 office in Glasgow.
Registration for the field day event will only be conducted online and can be completed by going to the “Education” and “Hunter Education” sections of the agency’s website at fwp.mt.gov.
A second hunter education course and field day and one bow hunter education course and field day will take place in Glasgow this spring.
