Brush, Colorado Outdoor Skills Day is June 4

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is partnering with the National Wild Turkey Federation, the City of Brush and 4H Shooting Sports to bring Brush families together for an all-day wildlife recreation event for all ages.
“We would like to encourage youth and families to enjoy the outdoors and to gain or improve skills they have or might not already have,” said Devon Lane, District Wildlife Manager for Brush.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Doty Park, South Clayton Street.
Activities will include shooting .22’s safely with certified instructors, target archery with 3-D targets and instruction, casting for warm water fish, learning about wildlife species in Colorado and a raffle.
Raffle prizes will include survival gear, youth composite bows, adult fly fishing rods, youth fishing poles, binoculars and water bottles.
The Colorado Division of Wildlife will also have a booth set up.
According to Lane, residents will be able to play wildlife education games, view animal hides and skulls and pick-up wildlife viewing guides to Morgan County at the booth.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment. As for fishing licenses, they are not required for the all-day event because it’s a free fishing weekend at Doty Pond.
“Families in the eastern plains are lucky to have so many wildlife-recreation opportunities right in their own backyards, from pronghorn hunting to bird watching,” Lane said in a statement. “We want to give everyone a chance to try their hand at outdoor skills and encourage admiration and respect for our natural resources.”
Lunch will be provided by the City of Brush for free.
