Black Diamond Equipment, a leading global innovator in climbing, skiing and mountain sports equipment, announces a series of recent accomplishments and product awards for its forthcoming 2013 offerings.
“Black Diamond Equipment is honored to earn three awards from ISPO 2013. To be surrounded by such great competition in the winter ski categories, particularly in the Freeride/Touring boot category, and be recognized for the most exceptional products in Munich is something that everyone at Black Diamond is extremely proud of,” comments Ryan Gellert, Brand President of Black Diamond Equipment.
At ISPO 2013 in Munich, Germany, Black Diamond Equipment was honored with prestigious ISPO Awards for the following products: Factor Mx 130 AT boots, Carbon Megawatt skis and Carbon Compactor poles.
The Factor Mx 130 and the Shiva Mx 110 for women both feature Black Diamond’s patented Mx Direct Connect™ technology. New Mx Direct Connect technology increases lateral stiffness 70 percent over most bolt-on systems, translating to more precise power transmission. The 2013 Carbon Megawatt gains sidewall construction and loses another 500 grams, making it one of the lightest fat skis on the market. Finally, the Black Diamond Carbon Compactor poles combine innovative Z-Pole technology with rugged carbon fiber construction for lightweight packability and unparalleled strength.
Additionally, Black Diamond Equipment was recognized as an ISPO Award Gold Winner 2013 for their “Because Flat Sucks” print ad. The ad features a humorous look at the passion of Black Diamond skiers without any images of athletes, mountains or snow and comments on what skiing would be like on flat terrain with a strong headline targeting young Freeriders.
“Winning these awards conveys our team’s ability to understand the needs of climbers, skiers and mountain athletes by bringing to market the most relevant, thoughtfully-designed and high performance gear,” states Black Diamond Equipment’s Adam Chamberlain, VP of Marketing.
Lastly, Black Diamond Equipment was recognized with a 2012 Sharp End Award from the Access Fund for their commitment to the American climbing community. Recipients of the Access Fund’s annual Sharp End Awards are selected for their unwavering efforts to volunteer and protect threatened climbing areas.
“Black Diamond Equipment has been a generous supporter of the Access Fund since its grassroots beginnings,” explains Leici Hendrix, Development Director for the Access Fund. “They have joined us in political action to protect climbing, and they continue to lead the outdoor industry in preserving the wild and natural places we climb. We applaud the company’s community-minded vision and commitment to access and the environment.”
