Big Game Topic of Meeting in San Luis Valley, Colorado

Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff will discuss big game management in the San Luis Valley at two upcoming meetings. The public is invited to ask questions and provide input on big game issues and concerns.
The meeting schedule: 6:30-8:30 p.m., March 11, at the South Fork Community Center, 0254 Colo. Highway 149, located just north of the U.S. Highway 160 intersection on the east side of the road; the second meeting will be 6:30-8:30 p.m., March 12, at the Inn of the Rio Grande in Alamosa, 333 Santa Fe Ave., located east of downtown on U.S. Highway 160.
Several staff members for Colorado Parks and Wildlife in the San Luis Valley will be on hand to talk about population trends for elk, deer, bears, pronghorn and moose, and to answer questions.
Members of the public are asked to talk about their opinions of overall big game populations in the valley, what big game they’re seeing during the hunting seasons and their expectations for the fall 2013 seasons.
“We want to know if there are any issues that hunters want us to address about big game herds,” said Stephanie Steinhoff, terrestrial biologist in the San Luis Valley.
