Monroe Lake Naturalist Will Lead Tree ID Hike March 26 in Indiana
Learn how to identify deciduous trees using methods other than leaf shape on a tree ID hike at Monroe Lake on March 26.
The hour-long hike begins at 7 p.m. at the Paynetown State Recreation Area Activity Center.
Monroe Lake’s naturalist will teach the basics of using bark, buds and branches to recognize tree species, a skill especially valuable in early spring before deciduous trees have developed leaves for summer.
The free hike is limited to 12 people. Registration is required by March 22 by calling (812) 837-9967 or emailing jvance@dnr.IN.gov (include the number of people and a phone number).
If there is inclement weather on March 26, registered participants should call the activity center to check program status.
Monroe Lake is at 4850 South State Road 446, Bloomington, 47401.
