Federal Ammunition, Delta Waterfowl Team Up for Ducks

Brute strength, cold steel, flying mud and freezing slush: Two teams will clash in a race made for ducks.
Delta Waterfowl’s second annual hen house challenge fires up March 21 on the prairie potholes near Minnedosa, Manitoba. Federal Premium Ammunition, 2013 sponsors of Melee in the Marsh, is sending two of the company’s finest maulers to North America’s waterfowl breeding grounds to compete in a race to see which team can install 15 hen houses the fastest.
The Speed Shok Stompers, led by Delta stealth biologist Joel Brice, Delta’s Nick Pinizzotto and Federal’s Ryan Bronson, will square off against the Black Cloud Brawlers, co-captained by Melee veterans Matt Chouinard and Jim Fisher. Federal’s Tim Brandt joins the Brawlers.
Melee fans can log onto Delta’s Facebook page (facebook.com/DeltaFans) to post a guess of the winning team and the time to complete the installation course. The Facebook entry closest to the actual time will win a Champion Target WheelyBird Auto-Feed Trap thrower, and a case of 12-gauge Federal target loads. Primarily used by mallards, hen houses are productive nesting structures that have been shown to increase nesting success and survival. On average, 2.3 additional ducklings are produced annually from each hen house. Delta Waterfowl maintains more than 8,000 hen houses in critical duck production areas.
