Colorado’s Boyd Lake State Park Opens to Boating

Boyd Lake State Park opened to boating on Saturday, March 16 with a current water level of 31.25 feet, down from full gauge height.  Boaters can expect to access the courtesy dock after it is installed, Friday, March 22.

To protect Colorado’s water from aquatic nuisance species (ANS) , boaters leaving a lake or other waterway, boaters should:

CLEAN all mud, plants or animals from the hull of your boat.
DRAIN all of the water from the boat, live well and lower unit of the engine.
DRY the boat and contents before the next launch.

Boats may be registered at the Boyd Lake State Park Visitor Desk/Office. Visitor Desk is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The ANS vessel inspection station hours will be:
March: Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ; Friday to Sunday,  7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
April: Daily, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
May 1 to September 30: Daily,  6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
October: Daily, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
November: Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday to Sunday,  7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If boats wish to launch outside of the inspection hours they must be pre-inspected for ANS prior to launching.  Boaters are encouraged to obtain a seal with receipt when leaving in order to launch when inspectors are unavailable. Camp loops D – F remain open for winter camping until March 31. Loop D will accommodate walk-in (non-reservation) only. Loops E & F are available for reservations which still must be made at least 3 days in advance by going online to the camping page (http://parks.state.co.us/Reservations/InternetReservations/Pages/InternetReservations.aspx)  or by calling (800) 678-2267(CAMP) OR call (303) 470-1144. The campgrounds will be fully opened on April 1.
