Suunto’s App Zone and Movescount.com Receive Upgrade

Suunto plans to upgrade its customer driven App Zone for the Ambit GPS watch at the end of April. In keeping with its commitment to improving services, Suunto has upgraded its community forum where users can find and create free Apps. Simultaneously, Suunto’s online community Movescount.com, which hosts the App Zone, will also be updated to offer a new look and feel. These upgrades will provide more possibilities for in-depth analysis and sharing.

Suunto’s App Zone was launched in November 2012, since then Ambit users have created more than 5,000 Apps, and more are created every day, allowing the Ambit to evolve with its users’ needs. User Apps range from ‘Fat Burning’ Apps that let you train in your optimal fat-burning zone to ‘Oxygen Level’ Apps that display the percentage of O2 in the air to help mountaineers acclimate. Suunto has also created its own Apps that include ‘Marathon Time’ which lets you see your estimated finish time while you run, ‘Current Incline’ which displays the steepness of a climb and an App that tells you how many runs you’ve skied by the end of the day.

The App Zone upgrade will give users the opportunity to create and share more advanced Apps. A new code editor will let users modify Apps more freely since conditional statements will become available, as well as the chance to log the App results for analysis in Movescount.

Movescount.com will be upgraded to offer members new tools for getting the most out of their sports, including enhanced navigation, a new visual style and improved opportunities for sharing and reliving their favorite sporting moments.

“The new capabilities of the App Zone truly bring power to consumers. Now, only your imagination is the limit on what the Ambit can do with Apps,” says Suunto’s Head of Digital Services, Janne Kallio. “Movescount.com will see the biggest update since its launch in 2010. We are implementing many of the things our users have been asking for to ensure a great experience when viewing and analyzing their sports activities.”
