This Week on North American Fisherman-TV: Red Fish Rodeo
OutdoorHub 04.08.13
This week on North American Fisherman-TV, Capt. Tyler Kapela invites his fellow co-host, Capt. Eric Haataja to Tampa Bay, Florida for Eric’s first saltwater fishing expedition. Haataja quickly connects with some big reds and experiences action like he’s never seen in the Midwest. We’ll also take a look at how invasive species are entering our waters, followed by the line-to-line championship on Knot Wars Lite. Enjoy the same action and so much more by visiting the North American Fisherman YouTube channel.
This time around, Haataja is the student and Kapela is the teacher creating an interesting chemistry between the two fishing experts. “I was so pumped to get out there, I couldn’t sleep the night before! This is a trip of a lifetime for me,” says Haataja.
Fishing is truly great year ‘round in Florida. “You can catch fifteen different species of fish in a four-hour trip and even have a legitimate shot at a 200-pound tarpon,” explains Kapela.
Haataja quickly starts landing trophy gator trout and big reds thanks to his keen eye for sight fishing. “He’s spotting them quicker me, and that says a lot,” noted Kapela. Later in the show, Eric ties up with a tarpon, but viewers will have to tune in to see if he is victorious.
This week’s Field Test powered by StuffStuff takes a look at Larry the Lizzard Custom Baits and the Abu Garcia Veritas Casting Rod. In the Club House, the Berkley Gulp! Shrimp is shown to be quality lure selection for saltwater fishing in areas like Tampa Bay. Lastly, “Silent Invaders” illustrates how damaging zebra mussels can be in our waters, and how they cost us millions of dollars annually.
