May Issue of Shooting Illustrated Boasts 25 Pages of New Guns

The May issue of Shooting Illustrated, on newsstands now, boasts a whopping 25 pages of new guns. From the Colt Marine Pistol and the IWI US Tavor bullpup rifle to the UTAS UTS-15 shotgun, there’s loads of information on the most exciting introductions of 2013, complete with a full-length image of each.

“Our largest new-gun guide ever is perfect for anyone looking to purchase a new firearm,” said Shooting Illustrated Editor-in-Chief Adam Heggenstaller. “Readers who just want to know what’s out there these days will love the May issue, too, thanks to the nearly 100 guns we cover.”

Being among the latest and greatest often means an expensive gun, but the Stevens 320 Security pump shotgun provides a great platform for personal defense at a remarkably low price. “At less than $300,” says Shotgun Editor Kyle Wintersteen in his “Basic Black” feature, “it more than fulfills this role through a strong, no-frills design that still boasts some nice features.”

One reason shotguns are so popular for home defense is because of concerns regarding over-penetration of centerfire rifle and handgun rounds. Ammo Editor Richard Mann decided it was time to run some tests to see if over-penetration is actually a problem worth worrying about, and the results analyzed in another May feature will surprise anyone who owns a firearm for home protection.
