Vermont Deer Hearings Set for May 21 & June 5

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department will host the final two of five annual deer management public hearings on Tuesday, May 21 in Lyndonville and Wednesday, June 5 in Manchester. Three earlier hearings were held in Springfield, Montpelier and St Albans.
Like the earlier hearings, these meetings will cover last year’s harvest results, but they will also include recently analyzed winter severity data and provide the public an opportunity to comment on the department’s recommendation for muzzleloader season antlerless deer permit numbers as well as the antlerless harvest during archery season and the youth deer weekend.
These hearings will also be an opportunity for the department to seek additional hunter input for Vermont’s comprehensive deer management review plan. The department hosted meetings on the review plan earlier this year, and plans to host more meetings in July. In addition, the department held a public input survey and developed three regional working groups to review deer management and hunting regulations in Vermont.
Anyone interested in Vermont’s deer management program is urged to attend one of the public hearings to be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
