Indiana State Park Summer Road Rally, June 9-11

Ladies and Gentlemen … get ready to start your engines. State Park Road Rally time is June 9-11.

Participants will pilot their own vehicles, as their navigator steers them to points of interest and natural wonders, with overnight stays at Canyon Inn in McCormick’s Creek State Park. By searching for various assigned items, participants will learn Indiana trivia and history, accumulating points over both days. The teams with the most points will be awarded their prize at the awards banquet on the last night.

Cost is $399 per team of two, and children younger than 12 are free (based on double occupancy). The price includes two nights of lodging, breakfasts and dinners, the award ceremony/ dinner, two days of road rally events and nightly entertainment. Reservations can be made by calling 1.877.LODGES1.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is the agency of the U.S. state of Indiana charged with maintaining natural areas such as state parks, state forests, recreation areas, etc. There are many divisions within the DNR and each has a specific role. The DNR is not only responsible for maintaining resource areas but also manages Indiana's fish and wildlife, reclaims coal mine ground, manages forested areas, aids in the management of wildlife on private lands, enforces Indiana's conservation laws, and many other duties not named here. According to the department's website, their mission is "to protect, enhance, preserve, and wisely use natural, cultural, and recreational resources for the benefit of Indiana's citizens through professional leadership, management, and education."
