ITP Racers Win Six Classes at Kentucky ATV MX National

Team ITP racers earned six class overall victories and a total of 17 class podium finishes at round three of the 2013 AMA Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship series in Kentucky. ITP-backed Pro racer Josh Creamer finished fourth in the ATV Pro class. In the 2013 National Hare and Hound Series, DirtFirst Racing’s Andy Lagzdins, riding with ITP tires, won round five held in Lucerne Valley, Calif.

“We had a great weekend in Kentucky, despite the rain and heavy mud,” said Pat McGuire, Public Relations / Race Support. “To have six racers win their classes and see that many riders on the box is impressive, especially considering the conditions. These results are about the determination of our racers and the capabilities of our tires.”

Three ITP-backed racers competed in the ATV Pro class at Ballance Moto X in Oakland, Ky., which featured a full gate of racers. Creamer led the way, earning a third-place finish in the first Pro class moto and fourth overall. The former pro class champion has finished in the top four at all three rounds and is currently fourth in points, only nine points behind second place. Jeffrey Rastrelli finished 10th and is now eighth in the Pro class points race. Root River Racing’s Sean Taylor, who grabbed a $250 holeshot award on his way to finishing fourth in the Pro-Am ranks, finished 15th in the Pro division.

Like Creamer, many of the Team ITP and contingency program participants were running a ITP Quadcross MX2 front and Quadcross MX PRO LITE rear tire combination in Kentucky. The Quadcross MX PRO LITE rear has undergone recent updates for the 2013 racing season, including a reformulated racing compound and major internal enhancements to improve overall handling and performance. “The Quadcross MX PRO LITE updates are for true ATV racers who demand the best,” explained McGuire. “These tires are designed to last roughly one race weekend to ensure premium performance for podiums and victories.”

ITP racer William “Duck” Lloyd (JB Racing / Cheerwine) earned third place in the Pro-Am class and won the Junior 25 Plus class. Lloyd has won every Junior 25 Plus class moto this year and is third in points in the Pro-Am class.

Team ITP racers also won five other classes at the Ballance Moto X facility. Dalton Hicks notched his first win of the year in the 450 A class and is the points leader after three rounds of racing. Chloe Buerster had a great weekend in Kentucky, winning the Open B class and taking over the points lead and finishing second in the Women’s class. Mike “Barney” Barnhardt also tallied two podiums, taking his first overall victory this year in the Veteran 30+ class and a solid third-place finish in the Open A ranks. Sam Rowe rode his Root River Racing ITP-clad ATV to the win in the College 16-24 class to expand his class points lead. ITP-support racer Blake Sarver won the Schoolboy Jr. (13-15) class with a 1-1 moto sweep.

Haedyn Mickelson, another Root River Racing / ITP team racer, earned two second place overall finishes at Ballance Moto X to maintain her points lead in both the Schoolboy (13-15) Open and the Schoolboy Senior (14-17) classes. Other ITP racers finishing second in their class were Dylan Tremellen (4-Stroke A), Brent Sellers (Production A), Alex Gillette (450 C) and Maddison Guyer (Girls 12-15). Noah Mickelson (90 Open 12-15) and Jordan Digby (125 12-15) each earned third place in their classes.

Round four of the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross Championship series is May 11-12 at Wildcat Creek MX in Rossville, Indiana.

NHHS

Lagzdins notched his second overall victory of the season on April 28, taking the win at round five of the NHHS held at the Johnson Valley OHV area in Southern California. Lagzdins won for the third consecutive time in Lucerne, which was supported by the Vikings Motorcycle Club. The course was challenging, due to the heat and excessively dry conditions, and measured 40 miles in length.

“The race was a good mix of terrain,” said Lagzdins, who made the pass for the lead at around the 10-mile mark. “The rocky canyons and whoops combined with the heat made for a true endurance test.”

The next National Hare and Hound Series race is May 4th at the Sugarloafers MC event in Jericho, Utah.
