Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce the Ruger American Rifle has received a “Golden Bullseye Award” from the National Rifle Association’s American Rifleman magazine. Selected by a seven-member committee consisting of editors, graphic designers and veteran NRA Publications staff, the Ruger American Rifle was named the 2013 American Rifleman “Rifle of the Year.”
The Golden Bullseye Awards recognize recently introduced products that are available to consumers prior to the selection. The products considered for recognition are tested by American Rifleman staff or regular contributors. Criteria state winning products should be “reliable in the field, meeting or exceeding the evaluator’s expectations; innovative in design and function; readily perceived as a value to the purchaser; and styled in a manner befitting the shooting and hunting industry and, perhaps more importantly, its enthusiasts.”
“We are extremely pleased to receive this award from American Rifleman magazine,” says Ruger President & CEO, Mike Fifer. “This rifle stresses performance and value, continuing the tradition of Ruger firearms and delivering what consumers have long expected from Ruger. Having the staff of American Rifleman recognize and appreciate the key features and benefits of the Ruger American Rifle validates our efforts,” he concluded.
The Ruger American Rifle is a 100% American-made bolt-action rifle offered in short- and long-action calibers. The Ruger American Rifle combines the rugged reliability of Ruger’s past with the award-winning ingenuity featured in so many of Ruger’s new products.
The innovative Ruger American Rifle delivers outstanding accuracy due in great part to the barrel’s rifling being cold hammer-forged to exacting tolerances. Besides sub-MOA accuracy, this process offers long-term endurance and a mirror-smooth finish that is easy to clean. The new Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger offers a crisp release with a pull weight that is user-adjustable between three and five pounds.
Ruger’s new patent-pending Power Bedding system utilizes stainless-steel bedding blocks insert-molded into the stock to positively locate the receiver and free-float the barrel.
The Ruger American Rifle’s three-lug, 70 degree bolt provides ample scope clearance, and utilizes a full diameter bolt body and dual cocking cams for smooth, easy cycling from the shoulder. The reliable 4-round, rotary magazine fits flush with the stock and offers the smooth feed that has become the hallmark of Ruger rotary magazines. The receiver is drilled and tapped for mounting the included scope bases.
The Ruger American Rifle carries easily, shoulders quickly, and shoots comfortably, thanks to the ergonomic design of its trim, lightweight stock with an ambidextrous palm swell, forend finger relief, and soft rubber recoil pad. The easily accessible tang safety, which can be placed on “safe” while the bolt is cycled, is complemented by the passive, trigger-mounted safety which positively locks the trigger for an additional measure of security.
Available in six popular calibers and with a suggested retail price of $449, the 6-1/4 pound Ruger American Rifle offers no-compromise engineering innovation, proving that a world class rifle need not come with a high price tag.
As the American Rifleman article concluded, “In the end, it may be that the only question left to ask about the Ruger American Rifle is: What’s not to like?”
