Michigan’s Saginaw Bay Wetland Photo Scavenger Hunt Continues
The opportunity to explore the Saginaw Bay Wetland Wonders by taking part in the Wetland Wonders Challenge II Photo Scavenger Hunt continues throughout May. Areas include Shiawassee River State Game Area, Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area and Fish Point State Wildlife Area. Those interested can check out the scavenger hunt rules to find out how to enter, download the scavenger hunt list, and then start hunting. The last day to submit photos is May 31, 2013.
Saginaw Bay Wetland Wonders events are generously supported through a grant from the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network (www.saginawbaywin.org).
To help find scavenger hunt items, participants can come meet the managers at two of the Wetland Wonders locations and go a guided nature walk around the property. Visitors are reminded to be sure to bring insect repellant.
May 28: Nature Walk at Shiawassee River State Game Area
Begins at 6 p.m. outside the Shiawassee River State Game Area Field Office Headquarters (225 East Spruce St., St. Charles).
May 29: Nature Walk at Fish Point State Wildlife Area

The Wetland Wonders Challenge II Photo Scavenger Hunt will wrap up with another outdoor exploration event.
June 1: Guided Tours around Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area
Begins at 10 a.m. outside the Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area Field Office Headquarters (1570 North Tower Beach Road, Pinconning).
Visitors can explore the area by kayak and foot. A guided kayak tour will be scheduled around the property. Twelve kayaks will be provided. Prior kayaking experience is necessary.
For those without prior kayaking experience or who would like to stay on land, a guided nature walk around the property will also take place concurrent with the kayak tour.
The photo scavenger hunt will wrap up during lunch, which will be provided, followed by a prize ceremony for teams who found out least 65 scavenger hunt items.
If there is a large attendance, a second guided kayak tour and nature walk will take place after lunch.
Everyone who participates in one of the scavenger hunt guided nature walks or comes to the wrap-up event is eligible to enter the Wetland Wonders Challenge II contest for one of seven ultimate Michigan experience prize packages.
All of these Wetland Wonders Challenge II events are FREE. Promotion of these events has been made possible through a generous sponsorship from Consumer’s Energy.
