Whitetails Unlimited’s National Headquarters Welcomes Visitors to Wisconsin’s Door County

Popular vacation destination is home to Whitetails Unlimited; stop in and see us.

If you’ re planning a vacation to Wisconsin’ s Door County this summer, one of the Midwest’ s premier vacation destinations, be sure to stop in at the Whitetails Unlimited national headquarters and say hello. While you’ re here, visit the Whitetails Unlimited gift shop, take photos next to the giant leaping deer in our front yard (a 21-foot long, 18-point non-typical), and test your whitetail knowledge on our new interactive educational kiosk.

The new kiosk is the result of a grant, and was produced by the CD Meyer Company. The interactive touch screen interface features the games Word Find, which contains words relating to deer hidden in a grid of letters, and Pop Quiz, which contains questions about deer biology, behavior, and deer hunting. Questions asked include non-verbal ways deer communicate, which state has the highest population of white-tailed deer, how fast can deer swim, why should a hunter use a tree stand, the definition of scouting, and many more questions.

There are 72 questions in three different quiz sets, and while some questions should be pretty easy for any deer hunter, when the questions were passed around the WTU national headquarters there wasn’ t a single staff member who wasn’ t stumped by at least one question.

The kiosk is enclosed in a custom-built cabinet to fit in with the decor of the WTU display area, and was fully installed this spring. WTU’ s national headquarters is located in the heart of Door County, Wisconsin, where more than two million people vacation each year, and we’ d love to see you. Door County has more shoreline than any other county in the country, offering an incredible opportunity to fish for walleye, bass, salmon, and perch, among others. The county has five state parks (one is an island that has primitive camping and prohibits vehicles) with hundreds of campsites and miles and miles of hiking and bike trails, and also a dozen private campgrounds. In addition, there are more lighthouses than any other county, a plethora of shopping and dining opportunities, and a wide range of lodging choices from chain motels to cabins, resorts, B& Bs, and inns.

For information about what there is to do and see in this area, and to find a place to stay, visit www.doorcounty.com.

And when you get here, we’ re easy to find. We are east of Sturgeon Bay at 2100 Michigan Street. Our gift shop includes a large selection of WTU branded merchandise,

as well as wildlife prints, lamps, ties, candles, knives and other collectibles. Apparel includes polo shirts, t-shirts, hats, jackets, sweatshirts, short-and long-sleeve button shirts, plus branded glassware and duffle bags.

Hours are Monday through Thursday: 8:00 to 4:00, and Friday 8:00 to 11:00.
