Excalibur Crossbow Inc, is excited and honored to announce that we have created an exclusive edition Matrix 380 CRT that will be auctioned for a very special young lady that has become an ambassador for the Hospital for Sick Children’s SickKids Foundation.
Kayla Baker, daughter of Frank Baker who works at Excalibur’s factory as a machine operator is much like any 15 year old except that she has more strength, courage and inspiration than most adults.
Kayla was admitted to SickKids Hospital in Toronto on March 13 and was surviving on a machine that provided life support because her lungs were failing, diagnosed at age 11 with Pulmonary Fibrosis, a rare disease causing the stiffening of the lungs. This disease is the consequence of chemotherapy she received when she battled cancer, starting at the age of 18 months old. While on a 2 year waiting list for a double lung transplant she began a long relationship with SickKids Hospital. Kayla has become a young ambassador for The Hospital for Sick Children’s SickKids Foundation as well working to promote the issue of organ and tissue donations, joining organizations like Local Life Donation Awareness Association. Kayla’s wish has been to raise $10,000 for the Sick Kids Hospital.
Kayla received one new lung on April 3, 2013 and is recovering well, she is still at SickKids hospital and is expected to remain there until she is able to breathe on her own.
