School Will Feature “Top Shot” Winner Ian Harrison at World-Class Facilities at R&K Queen Mountain Guest Ranch
Already a go-to resource for hunters and anglers in search of the finest trophy destinations around the world, NRA Outdoors now delivers NRA members access to specialized training from renowned instructors at world-class facilities with the first Long Range Hunting/Shooting School featuring “Top Shot” winner Iain Harrison, which begins June 6.
The course, the first in a series of schools made possible through a partnership between NRA Outdoors and SUB-MOA, will take students through a variety of shooting scenarios in the rugged and varied terrain that surrounds the five-star accommodations of Queen Mountain Ranch. In this course students will learn many proven techniques for long-range accuracy based on years of specialized training and big-game hunting experience. Utilizing Weatherby rifles topped with Swarovski optics and firing Federal Premium Ammunition, students will be trained in all facets of long-range accuracy, from gear selection to trigger control, gaining the knowledge and confidence that translates to increased success in the field or in competition.
Harrison and Justin Richins will serve as instructors for the first Long Range Hunting/Shooting School, each with specific areas of unparalleled expertise. Harrison is a former officer in the British Army and winner of the History Channel program “Top Shot,” in addition to serving as Editor-in-Chief of RECOIL Magazine and working as a shooting instructor and competitor in variety of shooting disciplines. Richins, a successful big-game guide and licensed outfitter, has a litany of long-range harvest to his credit and has coached many clients to one-shot kills at long range. Guiding in areas where long-range shots are a necessity, Richins knowledge of long-range hunting techniques has made him one of the top guides in the industry.
“A course that blends this much detailed theory and practical experience can only be possible by partnering with the leading instructors and manufacturers in the industry. With companies like Weatherby, Swarovski, Federal Premium Ammunition, Caldwell and SportEar involved, plus teachers like Iain and Justin, people taking this class will have the best equipment available for those cross-country shots,” said NRA Outdoors President Greg Ray. “And after a day of shooting across wind-swept canyons, students can relax in the spectacular lodge – the kind of accommodations that no other training venue can match. We’re looking forward to offering additional classes there in the future.”
