Plano’s 3700 Guide Tackle Bag wins Best of Show in Tackle Management

Existence in the Mohave Desert can be short lived, especially in July. It’s the land of thermal extremes: cool (even cold) by night, scorching hot by day. The air temperature can rise so quickly thermometers nearly shatter. Water and food is scarce. It’s survival of the fittest for each member of the food chain, even top predators.
So, it’s a propos that the sportfishing industry’s most fierce product competition would take place in the heart of the desert, Las Vegas, during the world’s largest sportfishing tradeshow, ICAST 2013.
Voted on by key fishing writers and media from around the globe, Plano recently earned the apex status of “Best of Show – Tackle Management” at ICAST 2013 for the new 3700 Guide Series Tackle Bag.
How can a bag made for toting tackle turn heads enough to take top honors? Because the designers at Plano let their collective mind’s eye run wild, all the while listening to customers, guides and pros. The result was the creation of a streamlined tackle management system that gives anglers quicker and easier access to baits when the bite’s hot.
For 2014, Plano actually brings forth a completely reengineered Guide Series Tackle Bag collection; that’s a succession of four different sized totes with similar features, including the ultra-clever workstation atop their lids; the game-changing feature that will forever change the way tackle totes are to be designed from here on out.
The new award-winning Guide Series tackle bags provide a workbench-like surface you tailor to the way you are fishing at the moment, with a StowAway® tackle box resting in an easy-to-access, molded depression on top, all the while five supplementary still-easily accessible boxes tuck neatly inside. And when the bite (or target species) changes, simply swap out the top box for another StowAway inside and the workstation has been modified for the situation at hand.
Ingenious!
“The design of the new Guide Series Tackle Bag wasn’t conjured up on a whim, but was months in the making and development. Every little detail has been scrutinized and turned into a top-quality feature,” says Plano’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Jesse Simpkins. “It’s a product all of us here at Plano are proud of.”
Available in four sizes, the 3700 Hydro-Flo Guide Series Tackle Bag (467410) measures 20”L x 13”W x 13 H and comes with six 3600 Series ProLatch StowAway boxes as well one on top and offers the popular Hydro-Flo base so water flows through when fishing in inclement weather; the 3700 model also comes with six ProLatch StowAway boxes and measures 20”L x 13”W x 11.5”H. Next in line, the 3600 spans 17”L x 10.25”W x 10.25”H and is packaged with the same 3600 StowAways. The smallest, the 3500 includes five 3500 Series ProLatch StowAway boxes and measures 12”L x 6.5”W x 7”H.
The latter three Guide Series bags come with a molded impact-resistant waterproof base, and all are adorned with two padded pockets for sunglasses, a smartphone, and other valuables; easy-access side pockets and a clear zippered waterproof pocket under the top cover maps, fishing license and more, as well an all-purpose PVC mesh pocket on the back and specialty pliers pockets and wallet sleeve.
