Fishery managers announced today that the lower Willamette River (including Multnomah Channel and Gilbert River) will re-open to sturgeon retention for four additional days from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28.
During two earlier retention periods in July, harvest levels were low, allowing managers to re-open the fishery.
“We have staff available providing the opportunity to monitor the fishery for one more week, so we’re going to provide an additional fishing period now, and evaluate future opportunities at a later date,” said Steve Williams, assistant Fish Division administrator at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
