Oregon’s ATV Safety Education Card Challenge Exam Now Available

Starting today, ATV riders who are at least 16 years of age can obtain their Oregon ATV Safety Education Card by passing an official online challenge exam at ATVcourse.com . Riders who pass the challenge exam are exempt from taking the required ATV safety course.

“With so many experienced ATV riders now requiring certification, it makes sense to provide a challenge exam option,” said Kerry Moher, VP at Fresh Air Educators the makers of ATVcourse.com. “We worked closely with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to create an exam that accurately tests the knowledge of ATV riders.”

Oregon has been phasing in mandatory ATV safety education since 2009. In 2013, all ATV riders 60 years of age or younger must carry a valid ATV Safety Education Card. As of January 1, 2014, all riders, regardless of age, will be required to carry the card when riding on public lands.

To be exempted from taking the approved online safety course (also available at ATVcourse.com), ATV riders must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the 60-question online exam. Riders have one chance to pass the exam. Any failed exam will require the student to complete the entire course in order to obtain certification.

After successfully completing the challenge exam or online course, the rider pays $29.95 to receive his or her Oregon ATV Safety Education Card.
