Hosts “Cary for Carone” Event in Illinois to #ShutDownCancer
Rick Carone – a father of two, an avid hunter, a former White Sox minor league catcher, a VP of Sales for Hard Core Brands and Michael Waddell’s “Bone Collector” on Outdoor Channel and a cameraman for Outdoor Channel’s “Buck Commander Protected by Under Armour” – has stage IV pancreatic cancer. A community of family, friends, outdoor industry talent and supporters has rallied around the 42-year-old Cary, IL-native, offering their support, positive thoughts and prayer. They make up Team Carone.
WHAT: “Cary for Carone” is a 21-and-over celebration benefiting Rick Carone and his daughters to help shut down cancer. It will be a Pig Roast and “Rick Roast”, include live music from Brushville (who have shared the stage with Country mega-stars, such as Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum and more) and live and silent auctions, including trips, signed gear and memorabilia from the outdoors, music and sports industries.
Sponsors for the event include: Buck Commander Protected by Under Armour, Hard Core Brands, Michael Waddell’s Bone Collector, Under Armour, Synergy Outdoors, Evolved Habitats and Evolved Harvest, Wildgame Innovations, Flextone Game Calls, Barnett Crosbows, Ameristep, Beretta USA, Easton Sports, Sunburst Shutters, Yumz Gourmet Frozen Yogurt and Outdoor Channel.
WHY: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to treat and consequently, one of the most expensive for the family caregivers to manage in time and cost. All net proceeds will be distributed to the Carone Family Trust, which is set up to pay for the medical costs incurred that are not covered by Rick’s medical insurance. The funds remaining after Rick is cancer-free and his medical bills retired will be used to benefit Rick’s daughters, Karsyn (16) and Tyler (13). The Trust will use the funds to defray their college costs up until the age of 23. We do not want his daughters to be disadvantaged because Rick’s medical situation is negatively impacting his ability to provide for them and prepare financially for their college years.
WHEN: Saturday, October 12, 2013 | 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. CT
WHERE: Bob Wegener’s Farm | 2815 Barreville Road | Prairie Grove, IL 60050
