Johnson Outdoors’ Sam Heaton to be Inducted into “Legends” Hall of Fame

Nationally renowned guide, outdoorsman and captain, Sam Heaton has been selected to be inducted into the “Legends of the Outdoors” National Hall of Fame.

Founded by Garry Mason, the “Legends of the Outdoors” Hall of Fame was established to recognize outdoor sportsmen and sportswomen who have played an integral part in setting the standards and guidelines for the rest of the outdoor world to follow. Heaton will be part of the twelfth class of inductees that will be honored at a ceremony being held in Nashville, Tenn., on August 24.

Growing up in Alabama, Heaton established himself as an expert hunter and guide. Early in his career he became known as one of the top crappie guides in the country, a profession he has kept for over 25 years. In 1999, Heaton was inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame as a legendary guide while being recognized for his guide trips on bodies of water all around the world. An all-around outdoorsman, Heaton has spent many hours in the field guiding bear, turkey, caribou and duck hunts.

Heaton has been a member of the Johnson Outdoors staff for over 16 years working primarily with the Marine Electronics Group in marketing, public relations and pro staff management. He currently represents and promotes the Minn Kota, Humminbird, Cannon and LakeMaster brands.

Heaton is currently based in Stuart, Fla., with his wife Lysa along with their dogs Chili and Finn, and cat Captain.
