NWTF Announces Sporting Clays Event in Missouri
National Wild Turkey Federation 08.27.13
Building on the success of its Turkey Shoot annual sporting clays event held each August in Forsyth, Ga., the NWTF announces the NWTF-Bass Pro Shops Great Midwest Turkey Shoot.
The NWTF-Bass Pro Shops Great Midwest Turkey Shoot will take place Sept. 6-8 at the Ozark Shooting Sports Complex in Walnut Shade, Mo.
Registration is open for this Natiponal Sporting Clays Association sanctioned event, which includes a 200-target sporting clays shoot with NSCA and Hunter divisions. Participants will compete for more than 20 guns. The NWTF-Bass Pro Shops Great Midwest Turkey Shoot will also feature 12-gauge preliminary, 5-stand competition, sub-gauge contests, side-by-side and pump shotgun events.
Youth Shooters and Teams Encouraged to Attend
Through support of the Scholastic Shooting Trust, a not-for-profit organization established by Larry and Brenda Potterfield, the NWTF is offering $5,000 endowments to youth shooting teams that participate in the NWTF-Bass Pro Shops Great Midwest Turkey Shoot. Additional endowments will be awarded for the top placing youth shooting teams, with first place recieving an additional $5,000, second place receiving $3,500 and third place receiving $2,500.
At the Turkey Shoot recently held in Forsyth, Ga., more than $100,000 in endowments were awarded to 18 youth shooting teams through the same partnership.
Youth shooters can sign up for the 200-target main event for just $100.
Not only will these programs increase the number of youth participating at the NWTF-Bass Pro Shops Great Midwest Turkey Shoot, but they also will increase the number of youth shooting teams with Scholastic Shooting Trust endowments to cover ongoing shooting costs.
