Video: New Species of “Walking” Shark Discovered

Scientists have discovered a new species of “walking” bamboo sharks called Hemiscyllium halmahera. The fish are capable of traversing the sea bed or along a coral reef by using their pectoral and pelvic fins to propel themselves forward. According to sci-news.com, two specimens of the new species were found by Dr. Gerald Allen, a research associate at the Western Australian Museum. Allen and his colleagues published their findings in the scientific journal Aqua after they returned from their research expedition near the Maluku Islands of Indonesia.
