Video: How High Can a Caracal Jump?
OutdoorHub Reporters 10.11.13
When food’s involved, caracals can develop stunning acrobatic abilities. Native to the deserts of Africa and the Middle East, these cats are powerfully built. While most of their diet consists of small game and even the occasional antelope, caracals can jump high enough to prey on low-flying birds. Also known as the desert lynx, caracals are more than capable of jumping over six feet into the air to snack on the occasional quail. Traditionally, certain cultures raised these animals to hunt flocks of nuisance pigeons much like hawks. The caracal probably wouldn’t like being blindfolded, though.
