Video: Landing an 80-pound Blue Catfish from Kayak

As the largest catfish in the United States, blue cats can present kayak fishermen with a suitable challenge. For these two anglers, skill and strong tackle manage to win out over the notorious fighting skills of blue catfish.
The video was taken in Nebraska’s Platte River.
Angling for catfish from a kayak has a few advantages over a more traditional approach, especially during the summer when catfish are more active. Anglers fishing off a bank may be frustrated by the roaming tendencies of the catfish, but drift-fishing from a boat or using a kayak may help to hook fish loitering around places far out from shore.
