In the latest installment of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers’ woodsmanship skills series, survival expert Clay Hayes gives some pointers on navigation. The traditional map and compass may have fallen out of favor with the advent of GPS devices and other modern technology, but fewer tools are more reliable when in the backcountry. Maps may get wet or the occasional coat of mud on them, but they never run out of battery power.
