Woolrich and Backpacker Inspire You to Get Out More

   04.03.12

Knowing how to layer correctly and pack for a multiday backpacking trip are great skills for anyone thinking about spending time on the trail.  Woolrich, the Original Outdoor Clothing Company®, is joining Backpacker Magazine’s Get Out More Tour to educate novice and experienced outdoorsman alike – about the skills and equipment needed to enjoy the outdoors and inspire healthy active lifestyles.

The Get Out More Tour, hosted by outdoor experts Sheri and Randy Propster, kicks off on April 10th in Mobile, AL, and will make sixty-four stops at retail stores, events and festivals before finishing in early December in Jackson, FL.  Around the Memorial Day holiday the tour will be in the greater Woolrich, PA, area with a stop at Appalachian Outdoors in State College, PA on May 26th and the Woolrich Flagship Store in Woolrich, PA on June 2nd.

“Stops on the Get Out More Tour are a great opportunity to learn valuable skills to get the most out of the outdoors,” said Jerry Rinder, Vice President, Sales.  “We’re excited that this season Backpacker and the Get Out More Tour are joining us to help spread the word about the importance of trail maintenance, especially in regard to America’s next great long distance hiking trail, The Great Eastern Trail.”

Along with providing insightful and useful advice on the latest gear and the skills required to use them properly, this year’s presentation will include a segment on trail maintenance and how attendees can get involved to help complete the Great Eastern Trail (GET).  The GET stretches for more than 2,000 miles from New York to Alabama through the linkage of a series of the East Coast’s most popular paths, including the Mid-State Trail that runs directly through the center of Woolrich, PA.

Since 2008, Woolrich has been a partner of the Get Out More Tour and has outfitted the Propsters for their presentations and their on-trail adventures.  Experts with true-life experience, the Propsters spent 222 days thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 1999 and in 2006 thru-hiked the American Discovery Trail across the U.S.
