Larson Electronics Delivers New Options for Rechargeable Power Supplies for Hazardous Areas

With winter weather looming across the country, Larson Electronics delivers two unique options when it comes to rechargeable explosion proof lighting.

The Larson Electronics EPL-RPS-70A explosion proof power system enables operators to power low voltage LED lights via four Class 1 and 2, Division 1 and 2 receptacles. Once the encapsulated 70ah sealed lead acid battery is depleted, operators can plug this unit into an explosion proof 120 volt outlet or standard 120 volt outlet to charge the unit overnight. When paired with Larson Electronics’ EHL-LED explosion proof LED hand lamps, operators can run 4 hand lamps for 21 hours on a single full charge. The EPL-RPS-140A offers a larger 140ah battery that can provide up to 42 hours on a single charge.

The EPL-RPS-70A and EPL-RPS-140A explosion proof portable power supplies were built to provide operators in hazardous locations with a method to power low voltage hand lamps with 12 or 24 volts DC output. Both units include four explosion proof receptacles rated at 20 amps each. This compact power distribution system is designed for portability and convenience as well as durability and is mounted to a wheeled, non-sparking aluminum frame for added protection.

The output side is equipped with four 2023, Class 1, Division. 1 receptacle designed to accept twist lock plugs like our EPP-15A and EPP-20A explosion proof plugs. The explosion proof enclosure contains a 70ah AGM battery and charger/maintainer systems. This explosion proof battery system comes standard with a 25 foot, 16/3 SOOW cord terminated with a 120V, 15 amp explosion proof male plug for charging the unit.

“Operators in tanks and on platforms are no longer tethered by cords,” Rob Bresnahan, with Larsonelectronics.com said. “These portable power supply systems are rated for Class 1 Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 hazardous areas and can run lighting and tools for optimum efficiency.”
