Small Waters Fishing Publishes the Ultimate Guide to Mating Rod, Reel and Line to Technique

Mike Pehanich’s Small Waters Fishing introduces Outfit Matches & Misfits, a series of features, interviews and videos on how to assemble the perfect match of rod, reel and line to specific technique and angling conditions.
“This will be the most comprehensive, detailed and informative series ever assembled for mating tackle to technique,” promises Pehanich.
The series opens with crankbait tackle. Dan Johnston of St. Croix Rods breaks down the most important features of each component of cranking tackle in a three-part feature that covers deep and shallow cranking and variations that come into play with heavy wobbling baits, lipless crankbaits and thick cover.
Then Bassmaster Elite Series and St. Croix Pro Kevin Short discusses the critical tackle adjustments he made fishing squarebill crankbaits around cypress trees at his Pickwick Lake victory on the Bassmaster Elite tour in 2010.
Coverage of each technique will include an “Outfit Misfits” analysis of the most common mistakes anglers make in their tackle matchups as well as detailed guidelines on how to make on-the-water adjustments to such variables as water conditions, vegetation, cover, depth, and lure weight or action.
The series will draw on the expertise of not only professional anglers and legends of the game but of top tackle designers and engineers, too.
“What readers and viewers will get is an understanding of what that team of rod, reel and line need to do to enable an angler to execute the technique and hook and land the fish of a lifetime,” explained Pehanich. “We’ll go beyond general guidelines and drill down to specific conditions and lure styles that call for adjustments.
