New Glock Handguns Unveiled

Austria-based handgun manufacturer Glock’s two most recently announced models, the 41 and 42, have been garnering much attention in the firearms community. The 42 in particular had been the subject of much speculation. Initially, many fans of the company thought the 42 would turn out to be a pocket-sized pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum. Later rumors asserted that the 42 was, in fact, a single-stack .380.
After weeks of keeping enthusiasts in the dark, details on the guns spread around the web over the weekend and were later confirmed in a press release. The Glock 42 is indeed a lightweight .380 subcompact that carries the title of the smallest gun ever made by the company. It features a 3.25-inch barrel and feeds from six-round magazines. Some highlighted specifications for the firearm are listed below, courtesy of a press release published earlier today.

- Overall length: 5.94 inches
- Width: 0.94-inch
- Height (with magazine): 4.13 inches
- Barrel length: 3.25 inches
- Length of twist: 1:9.84 inches
- Pistol weight without magazine: 12.35 ounces
- Magazine weight full: 2.01 ounces
- Standard trigger pull: 5.62 pounds
“This slimline subcompact pistol is able to withstand the rigors of any situation,” Glock Vice President Josh Dorsey said in the press release. “It’s safe, simple and fast. The G42 is a Glock in every sense.”
The company further adds that the small profile of the 42 would make it ideal for deep concealment or pocket carry.
The Glock 41 is a brand-new offering in .45 ACP, set to compete with long-slide 1911 pistols. Guns & Ammo reported that it sports a Glock 34’s slide width on a Glock 21 Gen4 frame. Some more specs follow below.

Both the 41 and 42 models will be showcased at Glock’s booth at this year’s Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas.
