January Issue of Shooting Industry Kicks off the New Business Year
OutdoorHub 01.07.14
With the 2014 New Business Year in full swing, the lead story in the January issue of Shooting Industry investigates the “new norm” and how dealers and manufacturers can prepare for it. Publisher/editor Russ Thurman looks back at the catalysts behind the record sales numbers in 2013 and examines what’s ahead for the industry in 2014, with insights from industry leaders.
“The greatest roadblock to greater participation and sales is access to places to shoot,” said Rob Southwick, president of Southwick Associates. “Every company that makes a living from recreational shooting and hunting needs to support efforts to expand shooting opportunities. Everything the trade can do to encourage new locations, from site selection to financing to promotion, will help protect and grow future business.”
In “Performance-Driven Dealers,” managing editor Jade Moldé investigates Performance-20 groups and how these peer review groups promote honest growth to increase sales.
“At its most basic level, the two firearm dealer P-20 groups consist of retailers from around the country representing more than $200 million in gross sales,” said Moldé. “In each P-20 group, these performance-oriented dealers share financial data, report buying trends, network and highlight business strategies to increase profits. Popular in other industries, such as the auto industry, these P-20 peer groups are the first of their kind in the shooting industry.”
The January issue features a SHOT Show update, outlining strategies for attendees to get the most out of the weeklong event — including the importance of networking, scheduling appointments and utilizing the multiple events offered.
The January Dealers Only Giveaway features a Compact Handgun Package. The winner will receive a package equipped composed of a Sphinx SDP Compact DA/SA 9mm and a Magna-Arm Gun Magnet. Valued at over $1,315 dealers can enter to win at www.shootingindustry.com/giveaway.
