Steven Rinella Scales Terrain for Alaskan Mountain Goats on Sportsman Channel

Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, is bringing audiences on an unforgettable adventure for mountain goats on MeatEater with Steven Rinella. Rinella engages his brother, Danny, as his local guide on this grueling mountain goat hunt. The brothers are determined to NOT allow the rugged Alaskan landscape and cagey goats ruin their hunt. Viewers will be thoroughly entertained as this “cat and mouse” hunt weaves through the breathtaking Alaskan countryside. MeatEater IS appointment TV and you can watch on Sunday, April 8 at 9 p.m. EST.

Hunting Alaskan mountain goats is one challenge, however; putting yourself into prime position for a harvest is quite another. The brothers backpack into the Mills Creek region of Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. They bushwhack their way into country they have never seen with hopes of finding the elusive billy goat. After making it through the hazardous terrain, the brothers spot a pack of goats in the high altitude.

“I’ve been hunting for most of my life and trying to put a stalk on these goats is extremely difficult, “said Steven Rinella, Host of MeatEater. “The goats navigate through the mountains with great ease – and in a blink of an eye, a goat you think you have a chance of harvesting, can be long gone the next minute. I was on a similar hunt in 2005 and had a goat fall off a cliff – Needless to say, the meat was ruined. This is some of the most captivating hunting territories I’ve ever hunted and I will be back.”

On their way back to camp, Danny spots another pack of goats high above. After a few minutes of glassing, Rinella and his brother cut weight so they can climb even higher in search of a tasty goat and a snow white hide.
