Sobeck Named NOAA Fisheries Assistant Administrator

Today, we are pleased to welcome Eileen Sobeck as the new Assistant Administrator for NOAA Fisheries. Eileen brings extensive managerial and leadership experience to Fisheries with over 30 years of experience in the federal government, including 25 at the U.S. Department of Justice.
She is not new to the world of NOAA, having served in our Office of the General Counsel from 1979-1984. Most recently, she has been serving as the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.
Eileen is a graduate of Stanford University and Stanford Law School. She also has the honor of having a species of seaslug, the Pacific nudibranch (Hallaxa hileenae) named for her. You can read more about her on our website.
