Allen Treadwell travels the country hunting a variety of animals, but there is one hunt he’s always dreamed of – an Alaska bear hunt. Treadwell travels via bush plane into the remote Alaskan wilderness in search of a trophy black bear, but soon finds out the challenges ahead are daunting. Travel north on this week’s episode of Bass Pro Shops 100% Real Hunting exclusively on Sportsman Channel, Saturday, February 8 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.
The vast Alaskan landscape is home to a giant black bear that makes its presence known early in the hunt. When the bear disappears, along with all others for nearly six days, Treadwell must decide if he should return home empty-handed, or continue hunting. “After letting the first bear go, I didn’t expect to lose sight of anything for as long as I did,” said Treadwell. “But it was my first time hunting in Alaska, so having the opportunity to simply be there, meant a lot.”
With one final day to hunt, Treadwell plans to give it his all. The wind dies down, and a black bear appears, but there is no guarantee he’ll make it in shooting range before nightfall. “This was one of the most physically-challenging hunts I’ve ever done,” added Treadwell. “We put in a lot of miles, but that’s hopefully what will make the end result so rewarding.”
