More Smartbaits Color-changing Lures Make Debut at Classic

After seeing the enthusiasm of anglers to samples of their unique color-changing baits at last year’s annual Bassmaster Classic Outdoor Expo, it was full speed ahead for making the big jump in 2014.

“Smartbaits made a trial run at the Classic in 2013,” said its co-owner Mike Dingman, “and anglers’ reactions – including several Classic competitors and Bass Fishing Hall of Famers — were amazing. We had to really gear up with production for a grand intro this year.”

Expo visitors were getting a first look at the new water temperature activated, rapid color-changing Smartbaits™.

The new water temperature activated color-changing Smartbaits come in an impressive variety of soft and hard bait styles and models.

“Three legendary TV pros, all Bass Fishing Hall of Famers, called the patented technology ‘industry changing.’”

“The exclusive chemistry in Smartbaits imitates wounded, bleeding prey fish, changing color at different water temperatures and depths,” said Dingman. “Predator fish, like large bass, hone in on those colors of the injured bleeding bellies of smaller fish and attack.

“Smartbaits incite that attack. In cold deepwater or warm shallow water, just one Smartbaits lure quickly changes colors inciting more fish strikes.”

“Videos on our website show bass aggressively striking several designs. It’s impressive, and we hope to be an industry hit. They do catch fish and do exactly what they say they do,”

Smartbaits will show a wide variety of hard baits in jerk, crank and vibrating styles plus soft baits in a variety of worms, grub and swimming baits.  There are also reusable glow-in-the-dark baits that last for eight hours and a line for kids.

“Youngsters are just as fascinated as adults at how the baits rapidly change color. It’s an instant hit with them too,” said co-owner Leslee Dingman. “It’s a great way to get them involved, bonding in the outdoors and catching fish.”

“Because of the very involved color changing chemistry, the products took longer to develop than we thought, but they are here now,” she said. “As distribution channels develop at fishing tackle dealers and big box stores across the country, the easiest place to buy them is on-line from the smartbaits.net website beginning March 1.”
