The nation’s airwaves recently carried important news for gun owners and shooting enthusiasts everywhere in America—great details on the upcoming Crimson Trace and Gunsite Laser Course. Gun Talk Radio host Tom Gresham interviewed Gunsite Academy’s Dave Starin about the new training course that will cover the practical use of laser sights, tactical applications and the benefits—and limitations—of visible lasers.
“We’ve partnered up with Crimson Trace to put on a class to teach people the benefits of lasers, and how they work, and how they can add to your ability to hit targets in low light and darkness,” said Dave Starin, Gunsite Academy Training Director. “Lasers are becoming more recognized as a tool to enhance accuracy and to decrease the amount of time required to cover a target.” The personal defense focused course includes two evenings of low-light shooting experience as students learn marksmanship, gun handling, and about combat mindset
“One of the big things about defensive shooting, is when you are under stress, it is extremely difficult to shift your focus from a threat, or perceived threat, to the front sights on your pistol,” continued Starin. “Under some conditions, the laser takes that out and allows you to do what is natural and to continue looking at a threat and see the laser dot. That’s one of the most beneficial things to the laser.”
