Guy Harvey Joins Gary Sinise Foundation and Daytona 500 to Help Build Custom “Smart Homes” for America’s Most Severely Wounded Heroes

The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation (GHOF) presented actor Gary Sinise, humanitarian and founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation, with a $10,000 check at Daytona International Speedway to be used in the construction of a custom “smart” home for a combat injured veteran.
Sinise, who was the honorary starter for the 56th annual Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, though his foundation has challenged race fans “to speed things up and change a hero’s life today by building a Smart Home for a wounded hero—the house that Daytona 500 Built.”
The Smart Home will be customized to ease the day-to-day challenges of a severely injured veteran. Features like retractable cooktops, cabinets and shelving, automated lighting, heating, air-conditioning and window treatments controlled by an iPad, as well as elevators, roll-in-bathrooms, front-load washers and dryers, intercom systems and automated doors can help restore their independence in countless ways.

Steve Stock and Executive Director Antonio Fins from the GHOF were on hand to help kick start that effort by presenting Sinise with a check—the second $10,000 donation the GHOF has made to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
“The Gary Sinise Foundation parallels our mission to reach out and support those men and women serving our country,” said Stock, President of GHOF. “Our organization supports a number of worthy charitable causes but I am especially proud of our association with the Gary Sinise Foundation.”
