Forty years ago, Safari Club International (SCI) embarked on its journey of promoting wildlife conservation and hunters’ rights. Donald Hill, owner of Missouri’s famed Oak Creek Whitetail Ranch understands the importance of SCI’s mission. That is why, each year, Donald donates a coveted “First Week of the Season” hunt as a featured auction item at SCI’s annual convention.
Dewey “Butch” and Karen Brown, in tandem with Kim and Steve New, surpassed all other bidders with a winning bid of $15,000, to win the right to hunt during the first week of the 2014 season at Oak Creek Whitetail Ranch. Historically, the early season has produced many of the top SCI record-book deer. Currently, Oak Creek holds the records for 19 of the top 20 Typical and 15 of the top 20 non-typical Midwestern whitetail deer!
“We are absolutely thrilled that the Brown’s and New’s will be our guest for this great hunt. Each year, Oak Creek continues to support the efforts of SCI through advertising, convention exhibits and auction donations. The importance of supporting organizations such as SCI should not be underestimated and we feel it is our duty to promote conservation and hunters’ rights”, stated Oak Creek Whitetail Ranch owner Donald Hill.
