The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit pair of SSG Daniel Horner and Spc. Tyler Payne claimed the title of world’s best sniper team at the 2014 USASOC International Sniper Competition held March 24-28 at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Throughout the match, Horner and Payne utilized the Leupold Tactical Optics Mark 6 3-18x44mm riflescope. This compact, lightweight scope delivers a huge range of magnification, allowing the team to quickly acquire close-in targets, yet still have the power to zero in on long-range shots.
The competition, now in its fifth year, draws some of the world’s most elite military and government agency sniper teams to North Carolina. Nineteen teams took part in the week-long test of field craft, physical endurance and marksmanship on targets ranging from 25 meters out to 1,200 meters.
Leupold & Stevens, Inc., the preeminent American-owned optics company, employs hundreds of people in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Beaverton, Ore.
