Video: Trail Cam Catches Deer Jumping from Possum Attack

In many ways, deer can see much better at night than humans can. According to the Quality Deer Management Association, deer have a higher concentration of rods in their eyes, which translates to better nighttime vision. Deer also have a reflective layer in the back of their eye called the tapetum that cause their eyes. In combination with a wider pupil, this means deer can see relatively well in the dark.
This deer however, either didn’t see the possum or thought it was part of the chewy scenery. A quick bite from the marsupial quickly reminded the deer how high it can jump.
