Lew Horton Distributing is proud to support the shooting sports programs of the Boy Scouts of America. In advance of the 2014 summer camp season, Lew Horton’s is donating 100,000 rounds of .22 LR ammunition to be distributed among the nine Boy Scout Councils in Massachusetts and Rhode Island that offer summer camp shooting sports programs. BSA Councils benefitting from this donation include: Annawon, Boston Minuteman, Cape Cod and the Islands, Knox Trail, Mohegan, Narragansett, Nashua Valley, and Old Colony. Boy Scouts and Venturers from all over New England attend these camps, and will use this ammunition while earning Merit Badges, Venturing Electives and in introductory open shoots.
Horton’s has long been a supporter of youth shooting sports programs. Don Drysdale, of Lew Horton’s, explains: “I have a deep appreciation for the positive effect that Scouting has on our youth. We at Lew Horton’s feel strongly that no youngster should be kept from experiencing the shooting sports because of a lack of equipment or ammunition.”
According to BSA Area 1 Shooting Sports Advocate Charlie Harris, “This donation will allow the shooting sports staff to teach the knowledge, skills and attitude to safely operate .22 caliber rifles and help encourage future shooters.”Recognized as America’s Master Gunmaker, Thompson/Center Arms crafts hunting firearms including bolt action rifles, black powder rifles, interchangeable gun platforms and rimfire selections.
