Announcing the 2nd Annual Union Sportsmen’s Alliance Take Kids Fishing Day in Eau Claire, Wisconsin

The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA), a Nashville-based non-profit, conservation organization, has teamed up with the Western Wisconsin Building and Construction Trades Council and the Greater West Central Area Labor Council to host its 2nd Annual Take Kids Fishing Day, from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., on Sunday, June 8 at Carson Park, Birch Pavilion, 702 Carson Park Dr., in Eau Claire.  Registration begins at 9 a.m.

The event, an initiative of USA’s Work Boots on the Ground program that brings together union members from around the country to volunteer for conservation, is free and open to the public, but limited to the first 100 kids. Fishing poles, bait, lunch and door prizes will be provided. All participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone.  Since June 8th is a part of Wisconsin’s “Free Fishing Weekend,” adults will not need licenses to join their children and fish.

“USA’s Take Kids Fishing Day is a great opportunity to introduce young boys and girls to the enjoyable sport of fishing,” said Terry Hayden, Event Organizer and President of the Western Wisconsin Building and Construction Trades Council and Business Manager of UA Local 434, in Mosinee.  “Being connected with nature as a youth helps build a healthy respect for the world we live in.”

Photo opportunities:  Kids of all ages experience the thrill of fishing in the great outdoors with their families. More than 100 children and their parents attended last year’s event. A picnic-style lunch follows the exciting morning of fishing.
