International Expeditions Offers Two New Ways to Cruise the Amazon and Save $500 This Summer

   04.11.12

International Expeditions, the pioneer in engaging and authentic Amazon travel, is offering travelers two new tour options combining a four-night Amazon River cruise with many of Peru’s other wonders. Guests traveling on June 29 or July 27, 2012 departures have the option of pairing a four-night Amazon riverboat expedition with four nights at either Machu Picchu or IE’s rainforest lodges. As a special introduction to these new Amazon programs, IE is also offering guests a discount of $500 per person.

“What we have heard for years is that Americans want to see Peru’s highlights but just don’t have two or three weeks of vacation time to explore,” said IE Vice President of Sales George Johns. “These new Amazon programs allow more options for those who want to pair an Amazon cruise with more of the country.”

Both program options feature a four-night cruise aboard the 24-guest Aquamarina, a ship recently refurbished and custom-built for navigating Amazon waters. Along the way, guests gain deep insight into the culture and region during authentic encounters with the region’s people and wildlife accompanied by knowledgeable local naturalist guides.

10-Day Amazon Lodge & Voyage Expedition

No two bends in the Amazon River are the same, and this option offers travelers the quintessential opportunity to explore two very different parts of the legendary Amazon rainforest. Guests combine four nights on the river aboard the Aquamarina with time at the distinct Explorama and Ceiba Tops lodges. At Explorama, guests explore from above on the Canopy Walkway, where they ascend ten stories above the rainforest floor for a look at life in this seemingly endless canopy. Other highlights include a visit to Monkey Island Reserve and opportunity to meet the Yagua Indians. Prices start at $3,298 per person with $500 discount.

10-Day Machu Picchu & Amazon Exploration

From ruins to rivers, travelers on this new program take in two of Peru’s most famed natural and cultural wonders — the Amazon and the “Lost City” of Machu Picchu. This is the perfect way to survey Inca and pre-Columbian cultures of the Andes before a relaxing four-day voyage spotting wildlife. From the mind-boggling walls of the Sacsayhuamán fortress to the vibrant markets of the Sacred Valley, IE’s tour offers time-strapped guests a shorter way to take in Peru’s history and the Amazon’s bountiful wilderness. Prices start at $3,398 per person with $500 discount.

Prices for the both tours include accommodations, excursions, complimentary laundry aboard Aquamarina, most meals, guides, transfers, and tips to porters and waiters for included meals.
