Costa to Premier New 580P Mirror Lenses at ICAST 2014
OutdoorHub 07.09.14
Costa Sunglasses will debut its newest technology, the 580P mirror lens, at the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) event in Orlando, July 15 – 18. Until now, Costa’s patented 580 mirror lens was only available in glass. Now, anglers will have the choice of 580 mirror lenses in either Costa’s hard coated glass, or its super lightweight, impact resistant polycarbonate material. Additionally, Costa offers its 580P mirror lens with prescriptions, made of Trivex® plastic.
Costa’s 580 lenses block yellow light – the harshest light – from entering the eye at the 580 nanometer on the light spectrum. The result is an unmatched level of polarization and razor sharp color enhancement. The lenses feature a premium anti-reflective coating, and protect against harmful UV rays, allowing eyes to truly relax while on the water.
Costa’s 580P mirrors feature the brand’s C-WALL™ technology, a highly specialized oleophobic and hydrophobic coating which repels oil, water and dust. The lens color options include the blue mirror (on a gray base), and the green and silver mirror (both on a copper base). All of Costa’s 580 mirror lenses block light at a slightly higher transmission rate than non-mirror lenses, providing an extra layer of protection from the sun’s damaging glare.
“For serious anglers, Costa’s 580 lens technology is a necessary piece of gear to help spot fish faster and more clearly,” said Chas MacDonald, president at Costa. “Our full range of lens colors, including the new 580P mirrors, allow anglers to customize their sunglasses to their fishing conditions, taking their visual experience on the water to the next level.”
The new 580P mirror lenses will be available starting in Fall 2014, in 14 of Costa’s performance sunglass styles, including popular selections such as Fantail, Corbina and Hamlin. Prices will vary depending on the style, and will start at $179.
Costa will have samples of the 580P mirror lenses on display at ICAST 2014 in booth 1257. For more information, visit www.costadelmar.com.
