The Orchard Partners with Red Bull Media House to Release New Blockbuster Action Sports Films

The Orchard, a pioneering independent music, film and video distribution company and top-ranked MCN, announces a global distribution partnership with Red Bull Media House, bringing the innovative media company’s wide range of sports films to digital and cable platforms worldwide. New Red Bull Media House titles to be released in 2014 include Matchstick Productions ski film Days Of My Youth (Fall 2014) and the Dana Brown motorcycle documentary On Any Sunday, The Next Chapter (Fall 2014), in addition to the June 2014 release of mountain biking adventure Rad Company. This deal expands an existing partnership dating back from 2012, when The Orchard began digitally releasing films like The Art of Flight.

“The Orchard’s client dashboard provides the level of analytics and transparency we look for to ensure we’re executing highly targeted advertising and marketing campaigns to reach, engage, and inspire our consumers,” said Greg Jacobs, Head of Monetization at Red Bull Media House North America.

The Orchard’s presence in action sports has grown steadily over the past few years, with a current catalog of 500 films — the largest in the business — and an influential role in the transition of a previously niche home video market to a mainstream consumer category alongside Hollywood theatrical movies. One of The Orchard’s recent releases, Sherpas Cinema’s Into The Mind, charted in Sports and Documentary film categories around the world, even hitting #22 on iTunes US’ Top Movies chart, and was featured in a New York Times Sports section cover article on the market’s shift to high-quality travel and adventure stories.

In addition, The Orchard supports its action sports catalog through EchoBoom Sports, a dedicated imprint and video channel that showcases and promotes its wide range of films — from ski and snowboard to skate and surf, as well as bike and motocross — through trailers, bonus footage, “making of” clips, interviews and more.
