Falcon Rods has announced an expanded line of task specific sportfishing rods for 2015, leading with the news of a new flagship rod series — Cara ST — made with a high-modulus material/resin formula that creates rods that are stronger, lighter, and faster on the hook-set.
Falcon has incorporated the advanced Cara ST system into two tournament-level rod series — Cara ST Micro and Cara ST Mike McClelland — headliners for the 2015 line up of Falcon rods, reels and team gear at the ICAST industry trade show at Orlando Convention Center July 15-18.
“Cara ST features a new material and resin system that rewards the angler with higher modulus and tensile strength,” said Falcon President Chris Beckwith. “These new rods are lighter, stronger, more sensitive, and have a faster response to strikes and that means quick reaction hook-sets,” Beckwith said.
For 2015 the full Falcon rod lineup shows 14 different rod series: Cara ST Micro, Cara ST Mike McClelland, Cara T7, Cara Reaction, Cara Peacock Bass, Jason Christie Signature, Jeff Kreit Signature, BuCoo, BuCoo Micro, LowRider 20 (formerly Lowrider XG), LowRider Salt, Coastal XG, HD and Original.
LowRider, a “Game Changer”
In addition to the new Cara ST news, Falcon has announced an expanded line for its popular LowRider rod series featuring a new red color, new graphics and a new name. It’s now called LowRider 20 to mark the twentieth year of LowRider’s innovative guide concept. LowRider fishing rods pioneered the concept of more guides, all kept low to the blank for longer casts and more angler sensitivity. Beckwith calls the introduction of the LowRider a “game changer,” a concept which was later adopted by other major rod brands.
Beckwith said the 2015 line of LowRider 20 models –15 casting and four spinning models — replace the Falcon LowRider XG series. The 2015 models get a new Fuji reel seat design and a lighter Falcon handle with a shape that helps the angler better feel lure movement on the retrieve. Some models feature natural cork, split-grip handles. Others will have one-piece rear grips of natural cork but without fore-grips to save even more weight.
Falcon Reels
In recent years the Oklahoma company known for its tournament-winning rods also has been earning a reputation in the reel category and for 2015 its line includes three spinning reel models — Back Country, Volt, and Moxie — all with multiple ball bearings for smoothness, and all affordable.
