MeatEater Season Five is primed to take audiences on an outdoor thrill-ride across America as Steven Rinella ventures into new hunting and fishing territories. While traversing the country, Rinella will visit Kentucky for his first eastern elk hunt – a place once roamed by his hero Daniel Boone. Additionally, the show will take viewers to Alaska, Colorado, Wisconsin and New Mexico for unforgettable journeys which stretch the limits of spot and stalk hunting, while also featuring the masterful culinary prowess of the host cooking what he harvests.
“Steven is a master storyteller and does a great job of engaging viewers and making them feel a part of the adventure,” said Marc Fein, executive vice president of programming and production for Sportsman Channel. “His breadth of hunting and culinary knowledge is exceptional.“
“The locations featured in Season Five are raw and exciting because there are a few areas I have never hunted,” said Rinella. “I have the opportunity to hunt mule deer, elk and explore regions that offer challenging variables and factors of the unknown. Besides the unpredictable hunting and fishing, the show will feature three cooking specials that may give viewers a different perspective on how to consume breakfast and eat wild game.”
MeatEater will continue to hold true to its exciting “field to plate” format, featuring Rinella preparing the day’s harvest for a mouth-watering meal. “One of my favorite episodes includes the consumption of five different hearts from animals I hunted over the previous year,” added Rinella. “We call this episode, ‘Hearts of Darkness’ and viewers will find the methods very interesting – and tasty. I hope our viewers bring a healthy appetite and willing pallet when they tune in.”
